Katie Edwards – Team Journey
Principal Associate
TALK ABOUT YOUR TIME HERE, WHAT CHALLENGES DID YOU FACE AND HOW WERE THEY OVERCOME?
I have worked at JB Leitch for over 11 years and whilst working here, I have completed my degree, LPC and training contract to become a qualified solicitor.
The challenge was initially to balance my personal life, my studies and work all at the same time. I had to have lots of talks to myself to stay on track and remain determined, but the whole team is highly collaborative and I feel I’ve been able to flourish.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE CULTURE OF JB LEITCH?
It has a fun atmosphere, there’s lots of variety in the work that we do. Although demands can become complex, there’s always lots of support from all areas of the business.
WHY DO YOU VALUE WORKING IN A SPECIALIST ENVIRONMENT?
I can be really good at what I do and be an expert. I can understand my client’s needs and tailor advice to their exact requirements, knowing that when they instruct us, they can trust our advice and our conduct. An added advantage is that the rest of the team bring a high level of specialist knowledge so clients benefit from that breadth of expertise.
IF YOU WERE TO RECOMMEND JBL AS AN EMPLOYER, HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THEM?
It’s a supportive environment, there are lots of resources to learn and receive training to do your job well. It’s a business that recognises individual potential and celebrates success.
CAN YOU SUMMARISE YOUR ROLE?
My work is varied and challenging. I am involved in cases that involve the tribunals, fire safety issues, recovery of arrears and breaches of lease. My time is also spent on research on case law and what’s going on in this industry. In recent years I’ve also worked closely with our marketing and communications team to provide a range of blogs, articles and advice notes to a range of media titles across the sector.
